What to do in Scarborough
There’s such a lot to do in and around Scarborough, so we thought we’d ask our guests to tell us their favourite places and things to do. Here’s what they told us:
- Sewerby Hall walled gardens and museum
- Burton Agnes Hall and gardens
- Sledmere House and gardens
- North Yorkshire Moors Railway
- Goathland: Heartbeat country, and a great waterfall (entrance beside main hotel)
- Pickering for the antique shops, bookshops and feed the ducks. Could take the bus
- Whitby
- Robin Hoods Bay
- Dinner in the King Richard Pub
- The arcades in South Bay
- walk along the beach
- sunbathing
- Scarborough Sea Life Centre
- Staithes
- Oliver’s Mount
- Oliver’s Mount Cafe and view
- Feed the ducks and squirrels in Peasholm Park
- walk along the sea front from North Bay to South Bay and get a bacon sandwich from one of the cafes
- Listen to the morning concert at the Spa
- Dalby Forest
- Sandsend
- The putting green at the clock tower on the Esplanade above South Bay (a walk suggestion) (opposite this is the house they use in filming The Royal)
- The beautifully kept flower beds in the Italian Gardens (it’s not much, in truth, but finding it is fun)
- Walk to Scalby Mills pub, fab!! (just past the sea-life centre, food, real ale, sit outside with views over North Bay)
- Visit Da Claudio’s for the perfect steak
- Flamingoland: a great day out, thrilling rides, zoo, shows, plenty for the kids
- Rosedale Abbey: old iron kilns, fantastic scenery
- Thornton Le Dale
- Lunch in one of the many hotels and cafes in the market square at Helmsley
